Synopsis: The presenters will discuss Ricky’s Law, which goes into effect on April 1st, and its implications from a risk management perspective.  They will explore how to minimize hospital liability and brainstorm solutions for situations that may arise. For a robust discussion, participants are encouraged to submit any scenarios or situations they have encountered with the new law, or particular questions they would like address in advance of the presentation to admin@whcrms.com.

Following the presentation there will be a networking reception with snacks and beverages. We hope you will join us!  

Speakers: Jennifer Crisera, JD is a shareholder at Bennett, Bigelow & Leedom, and a trial attorney who defends medical malpractice claims against hospitals, physicians and other health care providers. In addition to medical malpractice lawsuits, she represents healthcare providers in arbitration hearings and before administrative and disciplinary boards, and she advises health care systems on quality improvement and credentialing matters.  Jennifer has practiced law since 2004 after graduating magna cum laude from Seattle University School of Law, where she served as managing editor of the Seattle University Law Review.

Jonathan Litner, JD is an associate at Bennett, Bigelow & Leedom’s Seattle office.  His practice focuses on the defense of medical malpractice claims against physicians and other healthcare providers. Before joining BB&L, Jonathan practiced with a not-for-profit health care organization. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington, Jonathan received his Juris Doctor from the Seattle University School of Law. He also holds a Master of Laws in health law from the University of Washington School of Law.

Fees: This session is offered free of charge to current WHCRMS members and for $25.00 to non-members. Guests who have never previously been a member to WHCRMS may apply their $25.00 registration fee toward a 2018-2019 WHCRMS membership.
