Credentialing and Competency: A Hospital’s Scope of Liability

The WHCRMS Board is pleased to provide its very first Education Session in Spokane, Washington on March 6, 2019 at the office of Witherspoon Kelley.

This presentation will focus on a hospital's scope of liability for corporate negligence, especially credentialing and periodically monitoring the competency of health care providers practicing within its facilities.  Such claims of corporate negligence will be distinguished from claims of vicarious liability for non-employee physicians and for the hospital’s officers, employees, or agents.  Topics covered will include emerging issues in the relevant case law, Washington Pattern Jury Instructions, and current trends in practice.
