Topic: Billing Risk Adjustments in Healthcare Operations - The presentation will provide members with a panel discussion to address developing, managing, and optimizing a RM billing risk adjustment process.

Speaker Bios:

Pat Tennent

Pat is the Regional Director of Risk Management for the MultiCare Health System where she has been for over five years.  Prior to that, she was the Associate Director of Health Sciences Risk Management at the University of Washington and the Director of Risk Management at Harborview Medical Center.  Pat has over 18 years of experience in risk management and is a former Trustee for WHCRMS.  Pat has a strong skillset surrounding problem solving using requisite business and industry tools in collaboration with other leaders and teams aimed at process improvement.  She provides effective analysis of system design or re-engineering, development and initiation of change management within established organizations, while maintaining a positive, productive and efficient environment.

Timothy Hall

Tim is the Senior Risk Manager for Tacoma General Hospital. MultiCare Health System's Tacoma General Hospital is the largest hospital in Tacoma, Washington. It is a level II trauma center with 437 beds and the second largest obstetrical care center in the state of Washington. Tim, leads all aspects of clinical risk management for Tacoma General, including patient safety and medical liability where he expands them to a “big picture” approach to risk across his organization. Tim, started his medical field career in the US Army as a combat medic and has been in the Risk Management field for over 10 years.

Lisa Marie Hammel

Lisa has worked as an Associate Director for Risk Management at both University of Washington Medical Center’s Northwest and Montlake campuses since September, 2018.   Prior to that, Lisa spent 22 years as a defense attorney, with a primary focus on medical malpractice and professional liability defense in in Washington State.  Before becoming an attorney, Lisa spent 10 years working as an engineer for Texaco and General Motors in Seattle and Detroit.  She obtained her engineering degree at General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan, and obtained her law degree at the University of Puget Sound School of law while working full time as an engineer for Texaco.
